8th July, 2013.. I began my Corporate journey..
As most people are before a big day.. I was anxious, nervous and yep..super excited ofcourse.
So my destination was my office building in Sec-21, Gurgaon and the cab was to arrive at 6:45 AM I was told.

Got up at 5:30 AM though I felt like I hadn't slept at all and the first thing that came to my mind after waking up was, "Gee.. so today is the big day!"
Countered all sorts of questions while getting ready. How will it be? What will they make us do on the first day? How will my colleagues be? , and many more such random questions.. My mind was working overtime on that July morning.

Sharp at 6:45 AM I was ready, all decked up in my corporate wear and then started the wait for the cab. As it has to be with me on any big day.. there were some flips and blips on this day too.. like the cab driver's number was switched off due to some reason and I had to make some frantic calls to the transport deptt. to locate the driver. It was 6:55 AM and I had almost believed the cab driver had forgotten the new addition in the cab - me and left for the journey to office till he called from some different number and told me he will be at my place in the next 5-7 minutes.

As he said , he was there in time and I boarded the cab bidding goodbye to mom, dad and bro. Unlike what I had painted the picture in my mind, the cab was unusually very quite. The people in the cab talked little. Infact they were quite all the way.. which almost made me doze off by the time I reached office.

After reaching the office, we were made to wait at the reception where they gave us the guest cards since we were yet to be issued the employee access cards. Met some familiar faces there, people whom I had met earlier in the recruitment drive. Got relaxed a bit and started talking to them and in some time I was my usual self, talking, chatting and sharing jokes. We had some light convo with occasional Hellos to the new to the people joining in at the reception. These people will be my colleagues, co-workers and may be even good friends in the time to come. The thought made me smile and all curious to know more about them.
At around 9 I think, we were made to assemble in a room for the formalities. And I must say, it was loads and loads of paperwork. I have never signed so many papers in a single day that I did on that day. The HR people were really helpful and our grad batch of 2013 did steal some light moments even amidst the serious joining formalities.

At 12:30 PM , we were given a long lunch break by the HR team and we all made a way to the cafeteria at the 11th Floor to taste our first corporate meal.  After having our lunch, our mini group of 4 decided to explore the place a bit. We went to the food court complex of the IT Park our building was situated in, exploring the different outlets and yeah we had a mini photo session there as well.

We were back to our room, all 31 of us at 2:00 PM for the rest of what the HR people had decided for us. There were two short sessions taken, one where were made to understand the components of our offer letter (and mind you, our batch was a curious lot, we did have a lot of questions!)  and another was taken by a senior official, which aimed at giving an overview of our organisation, What it did?  How it did? And the way it was structured..  Was an interesting session overall.

The day ended at 4:45 PM and we bade goodbye to each other and went on to board our respective cabs.  The first day was power-packed, thrilling and exciting in its own terms. Life has taken another turn with the job, and it seems to be a pleasant one till now. I hope the journey turns out to be more enjoyable and exciting with each passing day.

Pretty lengthy an article I must say.. I am sure half of you folks might have dozed off by now.

So will hang up here.. Will come with another post on what happened next. So stay tuned.

India LIVE!!!

Life in a million hues
I saw within myself in truce
Diversity yet similarity
A strange and interesting milieu
The cultural miscellany
The royal link
I saw the world at my feet
The winds blew and changed course
There were cries of subjugation
Riding me was the tyrant force
The golden bird became enslaved
Utter bloodshed and religious wars
Brotherhood and nationalism were a farce
The clouds began to give way
There were patriotic heroes in the bay
I regained the glory long lost
The religious convergence
The cultural revere
The historical inheritance
Became once again my integral part
The world democracy of a billion
Had come a long way
Ready to show its flair it stays
Hub of talent, innovation and culture
All set for a major foray
The winning streak will continue to show
The land of finest musicians
Innovators, sportspersons and geniuses
Is all aglow
India is a force to reckon with
Let the world know
